Eleven years ago this month, I sat in the home theater of Charlotte, North Carolina Businessman Don Storms. He was hosting a gathering for Independent Business Owners. I sat with George Halsey one-on-one and listened intently to his thoughts on goals and dreambuilding.
George Halsey was a pioneer in network marketing being the first black IBO to reach the level of Diamond in the Amway line of sponsorship. He overcame shyness, and stepped out of his comfort zone.
As we sat together he detailed just how important it was for him to have a goal that pushed him to do what he found very uncomfortable.
"You have to want something bad enough that its harder to do without it than it is to do what it takes to get it." he said.
It was as simple as that. Just want it bad enough and you'll do what you have to to get it. While my connection to the Amway business ended some years back, George Halsey was one person I still enjoyed listening to. His training was not specific to Amway, but can be applied to any networking situation.
On September 2, 2008 George Halsey passed away. The Amway business has lost a hero. He will be missed not only by his business organization, but by all of us who knew him. Our thoughts are with George's wife, Ruth and their Daughter, Karen.
